Ang Tiyak na Salita ng Diyos
By Deacon Arron Merjudio
Review:
Message: The voice of God through the Holy Scriptures bears power and authority that assures us of the gospel and illumines our mind to see the majestic glory of Christ
- Ang buhay na tinig ng Kasulatan ay tila naging pabulong na lamang sa sa maraming Iglesya
- Many blindly follow or merely echo the positions of their pastors or ministers, even when those views are unbiblical.
- Be reminded that the only standard and authority for life and godliness is the Word of Christ in the Holy Scriptures
Point 1: The Gospel is not based on human inventions, but on the divine revelation of Christ’s power and majesty v16-18
Note: Peter is defending the truth and the reliability of the apostolic message — especially the promise of the “power and coming” of Christ (v. 16).
- Eyewitness - in pagan Greek usage, especially in the Eleusinian mystery cult, epoptēs meant someone who had reached the final stage of initiation—the one who had seen the great vision.
- Apostolic authority was unique because it came from direct, historical experience of the risen Christ. Their preaching wasn’t based on mystical insight or tradition but on eyewitness testimony.
- Peter recognizes that apostolic authority is a unique and unrepeatable role in redemptive history.
- Through their eyewitness proclamation, the apostles became the means through which faith is born in believers (Rom 10:17).
Challenge: Boldness for every faithful minister of the New Covenant… God still chooses weak men, whom He strengthens and equips, to bear His power and authority and to proclaim His unchanging and infallible Word of life
- Let us thank God for giving us pastors and ministers who labor diligently and devote their lives to the ministry of the Word
Point 2 - The Holy Scripture is not based on human interpretation, but on the testimony of the Scriptures itself v19-21
Note: Mula sa kanyang sariling karanasan bilang saksi, lumipat si Pedro tungo sa isa pang matibay na patotoo - OT Scriptures
- The transfiguration was not merely a glimpse of glory but God’s confirmation that Jesus is the fulfillment of every Old Testament promise.
- The prophets were “gripped” and “carried along” by the Spirit… they were guided and moved by God Himself so that what they wrote was exactly what He intended
- The Old Testament must be interpreted in the light of the New Testament revelation.
Application:
- We do not interpret the Bible by opinion or culture, but by revelation — the revelation of Christ made known through the Spirit in the Word.
- The Scripture has the power not only to comfort believers but to stop the mouths of their enemies. Their falsehood will be exposed by the truth of the gospel
- To faithfully lead your homes in the worship of God. Let the Word of God be the lamp that guides your household.
